THE BOOK OF REVELATION CAN BE VERY SCARY STUFF IF YOU ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN WHO HAS SECURED YOUR SALVATION. People Who Think The Book Is Nonsense Also Think Death Is Nonsense. Those who ignore the contents of the book of Revelation do so at their own peril.

There are no indications that the book of Revelation was written specifically to people facing a crisis. In fact, the introduction suggests the opposite.
  • The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants what must soon take place; and he made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. Blessed is he who reads aloud the words of the prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written therein; for the time is near. John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the first-born of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood 6 and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, every one who pierced him; and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen. (Revelation 1:1-7)
However, when one reads the book of Revelation to find out what is to come, the text is clearly speaking about crises that people will be facing.

Many people think that this book is recording events that have already happened when it begins by stating that the following events are to take place soon.

As a devotional, the Revelation of Lord Jesus Christ is very calming for those who know Him in person and have secured their salvation. For those that do not, this book is scary stuff. Ignore the contents at your own peril. The truth is death has each one’s number and unless one’s name is in the book of life, there is only the foreboding prospect of exclusion from the presence of God.
