WHY GET MARRIED IF YOU ARE ONLY GOING TO GET DIVORCED IS A QUESTION YOU MIGHT PONDER FROM TIME TO TIME. Seriously, Most People Get Married To Stay Married, But What About A Group For Newly-weds? Quitting a newly-wed marriage group does not mean divorce is imminent.

It’s been 2 months with the small group through church (same 5 couples every Sun for 2–3 hrs, +dinners, outings, etc).
Issues:
1.) Big commitment/expensive (had to “commit” to 14 months).
2.) We are the outsiders, different personalities.
If we quit, I’ll feel guilty for “committing”.

People go to church for many reasons. If a person goes to church for social reasons, business reasons or cultural obligations, then these reasons have nothing to do with being part of the ecclessia—the call out ones.
JOY is expressed as being Jesus first, others second and yourselves last. But this is considered too extreme in the Laodicean Church Age. Having a vital relationship with Lord Jesus Christ that is so vibrant other people feel the pulse of your heartbeat is abhorred by many of the the modern-day church-goers.
The second letter in the acronym JOY is rejected because we are told to think of “self” before others. What a load of new-age twaddle. This is the reason marriages breakdown. If husbands and wives put their “other half” before themselves then the relationship would take on new dimensions. But if people have not got Jesus first in this relationship, there is no point in putting yourself last and your marriage partner before one’s self.
As for the rest of the community, unless there is a natural overflow coming out of a marriage, there will friction in those relationships. They will be contrived.
Regarding guilt: Once a pastor’s wife attempted to put a guilt trip on me because I accidentally knocked over a pail of white paint that flowed down the red carpet laid in the middle isle of the church, which we were redecorating for her daughter’s wedding, the following Saturday. She lost it. I simply asked her to forgive me and cleaned up the mess.
Now, if she did not to forgive me, that was her problem, not mine. The Lord’s prayer says that we are to forgive others, so that we may be forgiven.
  • For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses (Matthew 6:14–15)
The basics to living a vital, healthy life and growing, individually, as spiritual beings unto eternal life is misunderstood by most people claiming to be Christians, because they have not understood the milk of the word. When people understand the milk of the word, then they are in a position to delight in the fear of the Lord (Isaiah 11:3).
  • Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments! (Psalm 112:1)
Indeed, there is much pleasure to be found when the mystery of God is manifest in the union of a man and a woman. But this mystery requires that we first delight in the fear of the Lord. Not understanding what it means to repent from dead works and express faith in God is the real issue at the heart of most people’s problems.
Get rid of the dead activities that are not producing joy in your life and allow the presence of God to permeate your relationship.
  • Thou dost show me the path of life; in thy presence there is fullness of joy, in thy right hand are pleasures for evermore. (Psalm 16:11)
