MODERN LIFE IS FAR MORE COMPLEX THAN WHAT IS PROVIDED FOR IN THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. At Least That Is What Many People Would Like Us To Think, Even Though They Have Been Written By The Finger Of The Omniscient Creator of Life. This is because most people do not understand the Ten Commandments.

Which of these do you follow?

The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:2-17 NKJV)
1 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me.
2 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that i...
For many, religion is the belief in an assumption without proof and trusting that the assumption or the explanation for the assumption is true. This is the way those who reject the truth about religion think. But then I could be talking about the theory of the Big Bang .

The Ten Commandments did not come from the Big Bang. The Ten Commandments are found only in the Bible—no where else.

Numerous individuals who belittle the Bible, because they have an assumption that they are clever, have claimed that the Ten Commandments are copied from other traditions. Yet not one person has produced any evidence of this when requested by me to do so. Nevertheless, they belittle the fact that the Bible claims that God wrote the Decalogue with His Own finger. Not that I am too concerned that people belittle the Creator God and the Bible, because each is known by what they say and do.

There is no need to defend God or the Bible. I merely point out what is overlooked because I once overlooked my need to have a relationship with the Creator, if I were to find the truth about existence, overcome death and give my life true meaning—as in eternally, for anything less is futile. Moreover, the consequences from abusing people is retaliation and vengeance. This without mentioning that the concept of justice requires that people are held accountable for their actions. Therefore having discovered mercy is available from eternal judgment, I am merely conveying the message of what is available for those who are willing to forgive and be forgiven.

Judgement requires a standard before it can be made. The Bible tells us that God’s standard is written in the Ten Commandments. Reject it, if you like. But unless you have lived up to that standard, after death accountability is required. Nevertheless, mercy is available now for those who hate evil and would like to change their ways.

Too many people seem to think that the Ten Commandments are just a set of rules.

The Ten Commandments are so profound that what they cover affects everyone in one way or the other. This is because the Ten Commandments are about relationships. They are not rules to follow. We do not have a relationship with a rule or set of rules. We have relationships with other persons—humans and God, if we so desire.

The first five of the Ten Commandments actually relate to God. The second five relate to human relationships. Not only do the Ten Commandments relate to human relationships but everything to do with human relationships.

The problem most people have is they tend to be narrow-minded, even when claiming to be progressives who do not suffer from tunnel vision. The truth is we all suffer from being single-minded: if we are seeking to discover the reason for our purpose on Earth or even if we want to deny it. Those who seek the truth do so earnestly. Those who hate the truth will find every reason not to seek it and to discourage others from doing so. As for tunnel vision, it has been fittingly stated: one tunnel has a light at the end; that is, unless the light is a train forcing you the other way.

Religion is the quest for the truth. Unfortunately, seeking God is confused with following legal systems, rules, rites, keeping up appearances and tabulating performance indicators and ego boosters.

The Ten Commandments tell us that not only do we have a relationship with other people that requires us to respect each other, but also that there is a Creator who desires to have a relationship with us. Therefore the Ten Commandments are very relevant for us today.

Still people dismiss the Ten Commandments because they want to believe there is no Creator, even though the overwhelming evidence around us testifies that life did not emerge from nothing and information systems did not create themselves. Instead these deniers of the truth claim the there is meaning in meaninglessness and nothing is absolute. The deadly deception of death has its root in the lie that you will not die—tell me that that is absolutely not true.

As for following the Ten Commandments, I am afraid I follow none. But by seeking to follow Lord Jesus Christ, I find that I no longer violate the Ten Commandments to the same extent that I once did.
